Flowers grow from the mud, and as an artist, as a woman, and as a wife and cat mom, growing up from that mud was rough. When you’re a beautiful flower, so many want to cut you down and put you in a vase until you’re all used up. That’s why this album represents the journey of planting our family’s flowers in the ground and watching them grow safe in our own private yard, forevermore.

It was so hard traveling every few months to new places for over four years. It was extremely difficult to try to make a home where I was met with intense racism, wondering why I was having trouble, losing thousands of dollars, getting set back. It was so hard to lose my sweet little girl cat due to the neglect of an untrustworthy caregiver. Betrayal from people I had been close to helped me see who really cares. I have learned some powerful lessons, and my wonderful husband, myself, and our remaining sweet cat are a family that now cannot be broken.

We all bloom someday, and the most beautiful flowers are born from the deep mud. We will grow our garden. We will continue to grow and create no matter what, because that’s just what we do. The heart wins, and unending beauty reigns supreme again.
